There is a moment in the creative process when something 'clicks', an idea surfaces and the result of that idea fuels excitement. When I combined my two loves; photography and working with fabric, that moment happened for me.
In each of my works, I merge photographic realism with the impressionistic qualities of fabric. Though my subject matter is varied, I am drawn to subjects that show their wear and tear, the abrasion of their years of existence, their interaction with human touch, and the textures and colours that surface through their exposure to nature.
It is through these things that I hope to challenge the way people view things. I invite them to slow down, to take a closer look at the world around them and to realize that in all things there is the possibility of something more.
